RODERICK HUNT - Jan and the Chocolate
The Oxford Reading Tree series had been developed to teach children to read in finely graded, progressive stages.
Jan saw a chocolate machine and wanted some chocolate. Jan put her finger in the machine and her finger got stuck. Lots of different people came to try and help Jan (including firemen) get her finger out, but they couldn't. A boy came and put some money in the machine and out came Jan's finger, and also a bar of chocolate.
