CHRIS SHARP - Hendon 1850 - 1875: The Making of an Industrial Suburb

This is one section of a larger work, still in progress, with the title 'Sunderland South: A History of Hendon, Ashbrooke and Thornhill'. Making use of archival sources, it will tell the story of that broad area - so far largley neglected in historical research and writing - from the earliest times to the present.
